Original Hard Contact Lenses in Case with Remover

These are made of methlymethacrylate (Plexiglass). They are large and supported on the white of the eye (scleral contact lenses). They were worn in the 1940′s and early 1950′s by people with a high threshold for discomfort. Because they do not allow oxygen to get to the front of the eye, the wearing time was generally less than 3 hours.
There is a rubber suction cup that was needed in order to remove these large hard contact lenses from the eyes.
