Silver lorgnette about 1860

Categories: ,

This is a sterling silver lorgnette. It is hallmarked “Sterling” “T&P” under the nose bridge. It springs open to form a hand-held spectacle. Each lens has about + 0.50 diopters of power. So, when closed, it has about one diopter of power.
The original patina is present. If one wanted to use this today, it would clean up to a beautiful silver finish with some silver cleaning.
